My heroine

Sometimes politics just takes a turn that you could not credit, and satire is the only true commentary. I think we're seeing that in Scottish Labour right now, many of us suspected just how bad things were, but to see the wheels come off so totally before our eyes give us all pause.

This time last year they were running Scotland, and a much lauded Chancellor of the United Kingdom. Seriously.

But as I say, satire. I'll credit this to Mr Angus Brendan Macneil, for it was he, as our guest at the European Parliament Burns night way back in January. Imagine it in a Western Isles accent:

AB:
"But I've a new woman in my life..."

Crowd:
GASP

AB:
"I only need to think of her and I smile....
"I chuckle to myself as I'm making a cup of tea and something reminds me of her...
"As I'm bringing in the sheep on the croft I remember the things she says and I'm in heaven...
"I wake up every morning laughing, with joy in my heart...
"I think of her the last thing at night before I sleep, and feel a warm glow...

etc...

etc...

etc [it really went on for ages...]

Ach aye, god bless you...

...Wendy Alexander."
